FAI – Fondo Ambiente Italiano

FAI has been working all along to protect important instances of Italy’s artistic and natural heritages, as well as to restore them, valorise them and make them accessible; with the 2003 launch of the first National census, FAI set for itself an ambitious challenge: to sensitise citizens and institutions through a project aimed at involving the entire population and that would give everyone the chance to speak up for the heritage’s safeguard and to contribute to defend the places they love.

The census gives full expression to what has been FAI’s mission since 1975: to concretely promote the respect for Italy’s nature, art, history and customs, and to protect its heritage, which is a fundamental part of our roots and identity. Born from the determination of men and women who decided to do something concrete for their country, FAI seeks to fulfil its never-ending task – which doesn’t allow any breaks and is supported by many citizens – with persistence and determination.

Since 2004, Intesa Sanpaolo has been an official partner of the census, and it adhered to “The Places of the Heart” by offering those assets that effectively facilitate the dialogue with Italy’s population: its 5600 counters spread throughout the country, together with the precious support aimed at concretise FAI’s commitment to safeguard Italy’s most loved places.

The Bank has decided to commit to this initiative because it mirrors the values that inspire its activity in the artistic and cultural fields: to safeguard Italy’s important heritage, to make it available to everyone and to provide our youth with the chance to acquire both knowledge and responsibility towards Art and Nature.

FAI and Intesa Sanpaolo share the belief that early education towards the territory and its treasures stands as an indispensable condition for the development of awareness, knowledge, and thus, participation to the common good.
